There was a time in my life when I was a single mom. My three daughters were in elementary school and we had just moved into a home. I was divorced due to an abusive marriage and had no idea if I could continue to support my daughters on my own. I received none of the court ordered child support, and although I had family nearby, there was no help coming my way. My job as a Head Start Teacher Family Worker didn’t seem to stretch far enough. Even with some help from the state I was living in at the time, I was challenged to provide for my children. I found myself one night standing in my kitchen with three potatoes in my hand. It was all I had for dinner. I never really said a prayer. I just cried out to God and said, “God, how am I going to feed my children!” Less than a half an hour later, I heard a knock on the door. Standing at the door before me was a woman who I knew as the wife of a man my father had worked on some construction projects with. In her hands where four bags of grocery. She handed me the bags and told me was it was on her heart that I needed some food. Then she left. I was in shock as I never told anyone of my need. There was enough in those bags that kept us feed until more resources arrived and I could go food shopping again.
I had many more struggles in my journey as a single parent. Yet time and time again God provided. His word never comes back to us void. He is a Loving Father who cares for all His children’s physical and spiritual needs of their hearts. Matthew 6:31-33. "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?' For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." If you can relate to this person’s story know that God loves you and wants to help with anything you are facing. Just ask Jesus to help you and be a part of your life. Say to God, “God I need your help. Help me with ______________” or “Jesus please be in my heart and life. I need you.” God loves you so much and wants to help you, and be in your life.

I had just stopped using cocaine all together when my boyfriend started to use meth. I quickly moved on to Meth and spent the next year and a half getting high, staying up for days at a time and crashing. After about a year and a half I was having heart problems. I didn't go to a doctor but could feel my heart beat being off. It scared me bad but I had no idea how to stop. Without even praying to God He heard my pleas and desire to stop and knocked down walls around me that was keeping me stuck in the spot of continuing my meth use.
We got kicked out of the house we were living in and I had lost my job. We moved into a house his brother was renting and my boyfriend started growing pot. We then got raided by the police and taken to jail. We were forced to move into my boyfriend's friends house for about a month and it was during that time that it wasn’t really available to me. I got a new job and no longer felt like I needed it anymore. If God hadn't of taken away everything that He did and provided me with new things, a new job, a place to live then I would have been on it for much longer, maybe even died still smoking it while my heart was physically telling me to stop. Jesus knew exactly what I needed to get off of it completely and paved the way for all it to happen. His grace was shining bright through it all. I also embezzled money from a job I had when I was on those drugs and when I wrote a letter confessing everything to the owner and asking for forgiveness I thought I was going to get jail time but instead got a letter back saying I was forgiven. Wow God has really moved mountains in my life. Writing them down and hearing them again has made me realize how incredibly powerful and loving He is. Words cannot say how grateful I am. I deserved nothing and God has given me everything. He is my everything! If you can relate to this person’s story know that God loves you and wants to help you out of anything you are stuck in or any struggle you are facing. Even if you can’t relate, but need God to move in your life, then ask Jesus to help you and be a part of your life. Say to God, “God I need your help. Help me with ______________” or “Jesus please be in my heart and life. I need you.” God loves you so much. It doesn’t matter what you have done or said He loves you, wants to help you, and be in your life. |
